Low-FODMAP + AIP can be a doozy. Admittedly, I’ve been a little off AIP since being low-FODMAP, but I totally understand how frustrating multiple restrictions can be. In my recent quest to rid myself of SIBO & Candida simultaneously, there was a period of time where I was eating no sugar or starch, including fruits & starchy veggies, + low-FODMAP, + AIP. I just COULD NOT. Well, technically I could’ve, but it was making things too restrictive. I ended up adding some non-AIP foods back in to save my sanity. more “Low-FODMAP, AIP-Compliant Sausages”
Well, it’s been 31 days since I started my SIBO & Candida regimen. The time has gone by rather quickly, but there’s one little problem: I don’t know if it’s working.
I feel like my bloating has improved, but there’s still definitely some there. I’m also not sure if I’ve experienced any die-off symptoms. I’ve been a lot achier, which can be a die-off symptom, but I also tend to get achier around this time of year when it gets humid & rainy in Phoenix. Bloating can also be a sign of die-off, so how am I supposed to know whether it’s just my normal bloating or die-off? [I can sort of answer this; I tend to get more bloating after eating FODMAP-y foods, so it’s probably just my regular bloating.] more “When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemon Water to Cover Your Garlic Stank”
I’m just starting my second week of Dr. Wentz’ Liver Support Protocol from her new book, Hashimoto’s Protocol: A 90-Day Plan for Reversing Thyroid Symptoms and Getting Your Life Back. I made some AIP ketchup last night & ended up with leftover steamed beets. I’m not big on beets, so I needed to find a way to use them, especially since they’re good for detox. This smoothie utilized my extra beets & tasted pretty good, so I’m sharing it for anyone else who isn’t a huge beet fan but wants to get some in. This recipe makes a pretty big smoothie, so you might get two servings out of it. I suggest having the whole thing at once if you’re having it for a meal. more “Berry Beet Collagen Smoothie”
Berries & naners & collagen, oh my! Here’s my first recipe EVER. It’s nothing fancy, but it’s a good way to get some extra collagen & green leafies in. When it comes to smoothies, strawberry-banana seems to be a go-to for a lot of people, but it never really has been for me. I had gotten some nice strawberries the other day & I always have bananas on hand, & this sounded good for some reason. I whipped it up with GREAT SUCCESS.
Like I said, this recipe ain’t nothing fancy, but I know when I first started eating differently I wanted recipes for EVERYTHING. Actually, I still want recipes for pretty much everything. Nothing much has changed in that regard.
